David Burke Prime Steakhouse (Foxwoods Resort Casino)

David Burke Prime Steakhouse at Foxwoods opened back up for dining in the restaurant 2 days before the official Phase 2 Reopening in CT.

Although the menu is limited, they do not fail to still deliver their premium steaks, and favorite entrees.

Every time I go to David Burke's, I ALWAYS...and I mean ALWAYS (no matter what) order a side of Garlicky Baby Spinach (seen in the first image) and their Double Cut Maple Bacon, which is served as three slices of extra thick-cut candied bacon with a black pepper maple glaze. I promise it is DELICIOUS!

I also ordered their 3 course Prime Time Dinner, which allows you to choose from 1 of 5 entrees: Herb-Roasted Chicken, Faroe Island Salmon, Seared Stonington Scallops, a classic cut Prime Rib (12 oz.), or a Petite Filet Mignon (6 oz.). Here, I got a classic cut Prime Rib cooked until it was pink or "medium." I normally eat my steak cooked "well done," but a steak like this tastes better when it's not shriveled up and dry. This entree also came with a very large baked potato on the side, which was filling on its own.

You also get to choose 1 of 3 appetizers: New England Clam Chowder, The Wedge Salad, or a Market Green Salad.

Here, I decided on the Wedge Salad because it paired nicely with the Double Cut Bacon appetizer. The half of the lettuce head was served with tomato, onions, blue cheese dressing, and a tomato vinaigrette. This was also very good.

And for dessert, the choice of either a Creme Brûlée Cheesecake (with amarena cherries and whipped cream), Warm Apple Blueberry Cobbler (with almond crumble topping and vanilla gelato), Classic Tiramisu, or a Chocolate Fudge Cake (with black cherry gelato and whipped cream).

Here, I got the Classic Tiramisu, and since they are smaller in size, they give you two of them. It was light, fluffy, and very tasty, with just the right amount of that famous coffee taste

I would definitely recommend David Burke Prime Steakhouse if you are looking for a more fine-dining experience. Their food is very high quality in taste and presentation. I have been lucky enough to enjoy eating here on many different occasions, from lunch/dinner to graduation celebrations, and every time has been a great experience!

Grant's Berry Patch - Jewett City, CT

Strawberries are finally in season, and the weather was perfect for "Pick Your Own" at Grant's Berry Patch and Farm yesterday.  Multiple rows of the seasonal red fruit were growing close to the ground and some leaves even sprouted berries of all different sizes.  Priced at $3.95/lb, I left there with almost 20 lbs. of strawberries for myself, family and friends. Once they were properly washed and cooled for a little while, I really liked the smaller strawberries the best, but all of them were fresh, sweet, and juicy.  Some people will use the berries to make jam, jelly, mix them with cream, dip them in chocolate, make them into a smoothie, or just eat them the way they are! However you eat your strawberries, I recommend picking them fresh from your local farm. The experience is tons of fun for families of all ages, and they taste way better than the ones you buy at the grocery store. Besides, strawberries have tons of nutritional benefits: experts say that they are an exc...

S & P Oyster - Mystic, CT

I have visited Mystic quite a few times, but it was my first time eating at S & P Oyster. I heard many great things about the restaurant, so I finally decided to try it out.  Their dining room is open again. with effective social distancing and health practices being implemented, but they also have outdoor seating in a portion of their parking lot, as well as surrounded by tons of beautiful plants, the iconic drawbridge, and the view of the water.  I ordered the S & P Seafood Pasta , with shrimp, sea scallops, calamari, mussels, fettuccine, white wine garlic sauce, and freshly chopped herbs. which was the ideal size for dinner. I ended up taking the rest home for lunch the next day. For appetizers, I had Prosciutto Wrapped Sea Scallops . It was wood grilled and served with cilantro sauce, piquillo pepper & jicama salsa, and charred corn, kind of like a corn salsa. I also had Spinach & Artichoke Dip , and it was the best I've had in awhile! It was topped with fr...

CT History Day Participant to Judge

From 2014-2017, I was a participant of the Connecticut History Day contest in the individual performance category. The first time I was told about History Day, I was driven by the long term research and composition of the projects. I knew that I was ready to take on a new challenge. The best part of History Day was always choosing a topic. In school, we only ever learned a portion of history from different time periods: we get a basic understanding of important historical figures and how they create a lasting impact. I enjoyed exploring a wide variety of topics within a centralized theme and focusing on aspects of history beyond the ones in our textbooks.  Another great aspect of History Day was creating your project's thesis. My project: "Exploring the Power of Dance: Martha Graham" for the 2016 theme of  Exploration, Encounter, and Exchange  was built off of a thesis focusing on Martha Graham's ability to revolutionize dance through the expansion of boundar...
